Another Frightened Cute little Soul
Not long after Rio, I received another call for help. One of my friend’s brothers found a female abandoned cat, around six months old, white and brown in color—just like Rio. She was roaming around the streets, screaming and crying as if she were hungry, her eyes desperately searching for her owner.
Unsure of what to do, he called me immediately. I told him to take her home and keep her safe for the night. The next day, after finishing work, I called him and asked him to bring the cat to me. When he arrived, I checked her condition—she had black stains of oil all over her body and was running a fever. She was terrified.
I gently took her from his arms, cleaned her with a warm towel, and offered her cat food. She ate a little, then curled up in my lap and fell into a peaceful sleep. That moment confirmed to me, once again, the impact of a simple act of kindness.
I named her Zoey. She was so innocent that I couldn’t resist keeping her as Rio’s companion. At first, it was difficult for Rio to accept her. Naturally, cats take time to adjust to new felines in their territory, and Rio was no exception. He was initially very angry and showed aggression toward her. To ease the transition, I kept them in separate rooms and tried to figure out the best way to introduce them to each other.
At times, I felt confused and unsure if they would ever get along. But after a few weeks of gradual introductions, Rio finally accepted Zoey, and they became best friends. It was heartwarming to see them bond, play together, and comfort each other. They were both six months old at the time, and now, three years later, they are still happily living with me.
Every day when I come home, I forget all my worries the moment I see their happy faces. I only wish that all the street animals out there could experience the same love and care that they truly deserve.💗
